Generation Y
In its January 22, 2008 edition, the Quebec City newspaper Le Soleil had a topic about generations by age group.
Generations are grouped as follows:
- The Silent generation, people born before 1945.
- The Baby Boomers, people born between 1945 and 1961
- Generation X, people born between 1962 and 1976
- Generation Y, people born between 1977 and ?
For the last one, one can ask why "Y"?
French-Canadian Cartoonist Marc Beaudet explains it eloquently below:

Help America - Spend Your Rebate Wisely
The federal government is sending each and every one of us a $600 rebate. If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China. If we spend it on gasoline, it will go to the Arabs or Venezuela. If we purchase a computer it will go to India. If we purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala. If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan. If we purchase useless crap, it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy. The only way to keep that money here at home is to buy prostitutes and beer, since these are the only products still produced in the US. Thank you for your help.
Signed,
(Ex) Governor Spitzer

How Traffic Jams Happen
Driving around in Seattle, I often wonder why traffic backs up for no reason whatsoever. You're driving along in a nice flow of traffic checkin' out some tunes and suddenly things just grind to a painful crawl. And then you creep along for the next mile or two, waiting to come up on some blood-curdling traffic accident that just has to be up ahead somewhere. But nothing ever shows up and just as quickly as the jam started, traffic speeds up again just as quickly as it slowed down.
So what's the deal? Is there some psychological effect going on here or what? Well, our friends at the Mathematical Society of Traffic Flow in Japan (great name!) have created a simulation to show you how it happens. So what can people do to un-jam themselves in a traffic jam? NewScientist has a more extensive article on the study HERE.

George Carlin on Who Controls America
...or the Dumbing of America.
I still love the guy. First time I got to see him was in Toronto at the O'Keefe Centre in the late 60's right after he came up with the 7 Dirtiest Words in the English Language. He was actually forewarned by the Toronto Police Dept. NOT to perform that piece so he didn't. Sort of. As he finished his show, he took off his sweatshirt to reveal a black t-shirt. He turned around to exit the stage and the 7 dirtiest words were printed in bold white letters on the back of his t-shirt. Great exit I'll never forget!

Things That are Hard to Say When Drunk
THINGS THAT ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO SAY WHEN DRUNK:
1. Specificity
2. Anti-constitutionalistically
3. Passive-aggressive disorder
4. Transubstantiate
THINGS THAT ARE DOWNRIGHT IMPOSSIBLE TO SAY WHEN DRUNK:
1. No thanks, I'm married.
2. Nope, no more booze for me!
3. Sorry, but you're not really my type.
4. Taco Bell ? No thanks, I'm not hungry.
5. Good evening, officer. Isn't it lovely out tonight?
6. Oh, I couldn't! No one wants to hear me sing karaoke.
7. I'm not interested in fighting you.
8. Thank you, but I won't make any attempt to dance, I have no coordination. I'd hate to look like a fool!
9. Where is the nearest bathroom? I refuse to pee in this parking lot or on the side of the road.
10. I must be going home now, as I have to work in the morning.

Funniest LinkedIn Comments
As many of you already know, I've been busy over the past 3 weeks beefing up my LinkedIn contact list. I just broke 100 contacts tonight from a stagnant 22 connections in January that hadn't changed much in years.
One of the guys I re-connected with is Gary K. down in the Bay area and in taking a closer look at his profile, I happened to catch this recommendation for one of his connections out of the corner of my eye:

So I decided to check his friend's reciprocal recommendation for him:

Jimmy Kimmel Responds to Sarah Silverman Video
In case some of you missed it a while back, Sarah Silverman shot a video that went viral online almost overnight. She's been dating Jimmy Kimmel and I'm sure it must be a riot any time you put two comedians together. I can take her humor or leave it but I've always enjoyed Kimmel's stunts with Adam Carolla on The Man Show. So last night, I'm sitting in bed working away with The Jimmy Kimmel Show on the TV and this new video makes its debut on his show. I was ROTBLMAO (rolling on the bed laughing my ass off).
Here's the original Sarah Silverman "I'm f*ckin' Matt Damon!"
And here's Jimmy Kimmel's response from last night, "F*ckin' Ben Affleck!" video.
And of course, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are best friends. What an elaborate gag!

How to Crop Your Picture for CraigsList Personals
A Memorable Senior Moment
An impertinent university freshman took it upon himself to explain to a senior citizen standing next to him at a bus stop that it was impossible for older people to understand his generation.
"You grew up in a different world," the student said in a voice loud enough for the other passengers to hear, "actually, an almost primitive one."
The elderly man said nothing.
The student continued, "The young people of today grew up with televison, jet planes, space travel, man walking on the moon, our spaceships have visited Mars. We have nuclear energy, electric and hydrogen cars, computers with light-speed processing and.."
The student paused to take a breath and the senior took advantage of the break in the young man's litany and said, "You're quite right, son. We didn't have those things when we were young... so we invented them. Now, you arrogant little twerp, what are YOU doing for the next generation?"
The applause was resounding.

Sex Offender Registry from John Walsh
Family Watchdog is another mashup that allows you to type in your street and then see where your closest neighborhood sex offender is living. Brought to you by John Walsh.
The Psychic Dog
A Kansas farm wife called the local phone company to report her telephone failed to ring when her friends called and that on the few occasions, when it did ring, her dog always moaned right before the phone rang. The telephone repairman proceeded to the scene, curious to see this psychic dog or senile lady.
He climbed a telephone pole, hooked in his test set, and dialed the subscriber's house. The phone didn't ring right away, but then the dog moaned and the telephone began to ring. Climbing down from the pole, the telephone repairman found:
1. The dog was tied to the telephone system's ground wire with a steel chain and collar.
2. The wire connection to the ground rod was loose.
3. The dog was receiving 90 volts of signaling current when the number was called.
4. After a couple of jolts, the dog would start moaning and then urinate.
5. The wet ground would complete the circuit, thus causing the phone to ring.
Which demonstrates that some problems CAN be fixed by pissing and moaning.

All listed on CrazyLaws.com. In Seattle, if a woman sits on a man's lap on a bus, she has to use a pillow or else face an automatic 6-month jail term! And you need a license to sell condoms in Washington State!
Could you pass the US citizenship test?
The Boston Globe posted 14 questions from the list of 100 questions used on the U.S. citizenship test. To pass, you have to answer 7 or 8 questions correctly out of 10.Years ago, I remember studying for days on end before going in for my Green Card test years ago only to have the immigration guys ask me 3 idiot questions like, " Who would be in line to be President if something should happen to the current President?" After answering the three questions correctly, I asked the immigration officer, " What about the 13 colonies? How about the number of congressmen and senators?" He simply looked at his list and - without even looking up or so much as blinking and eye - answered, "I don't see those questions on the list." When prodded, he did volunteer that the people who tend to fail the test were mostly Canadians and Brits who spoke English and assumed that they would know the answers without studying.
Anyway, surprise yourself. Try the test!

Diary of a Snow Shoveler
From my brother back in Nova Scotia, after just shoveling out from under 5 snow storms in the past 2 weeks!
December 2: 6:00 PM
It started to snow. The first snow of the season and the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by the window watching the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses Print. So romantic we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow!
December 9:
We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a more lovely place in the Whole World? Moving here was the best idea I've ever had. Shoveled for the first time in years and felt like a boy again. I did both our driveway and the sidewalks. This afternoon the snowplough came along and covered up the sidewalks and closed in the driveway, so I got to shovel again. What a perfect life.
December 12:
The sun has melted all our lovely snow. Such a disappointment. My neighbor tells me not to worry, we'll definitely have a white Christmas. No snow on Christmas would be awful! Bob says we'll have so much snow by the end of winter, that I'll never want to see snow again. I don't think that's possible. Bob is such a nice man, I'm glad he's our neighbor.
December 14:
Snow, lovely snow! 8 inches last night. The temperature dropped to -20. The cold makes everything sparkle so. The wind took my breath away, but I warmed up by shoveling the driveway and sidewalks. This is the life! The snowplough came back this afternoon and buried everything again. I didn't realize I would have to do quite this much shovelling, but I'll certainly get back in shape this way. I wish I wouldn't huff and puff so.
December 15:
20 inches forecast. Sold my van and bought a 4x4 Blazer. Bought snow tires for the wife's car and two extra shovels. Stocked the freezer. The wife wants a wood stove in case the electricity goes out. I think that's silly. We aren't in Alaska, after all.
December 16:
Ice storm this morning. Fell on my butt on the ice in the driveway putting down salt. Hurt like hell. The wife laughed for an hour which I think was very cruel.
December 17:
Still way below freezing. Roads are too icy to go anywhere. Electricity was off for five hours. I had to pile the blankets on to stay warm. Nothing to do but stare at the wife and try not to irritate her. Guess I should have bought a wood stove, but won't admit it to her. God I hate it when she's right. I can't believe I'm freezing to death in my own living room!
December 20:
Electricity's back on, but had another 14 inches of the damn stuff last night. More shoveling. Took all day. damn snowplough came by twice. Tried to find a neighbor kid to shovel, but they said they're too busy playing hockey. I think they're lying. Called the only hardware store around to see about buying a snow blower and they're out. Might have another shipment in March. I think they're lying. Bob says I have to shovel or the city will have it done and bill me. I think he's lying.
December 22:
Bob was right about a white Christmas, because 13 more inches of the white shit fell today, and it's so cold it probably won't melt 'til August. Took me 45 minutes to get all dressed up to go out to shovel, and then I had to piss. By the time I got undressed, pissed and dressed again, I was too tired to shovel! Tried to hire Bob - who has a plow on his truck - for the rest of the winter; but he says he's too busy. I think the asshole is lying.
December 23:
Only 2 inches of snow today and it finally warmed up to zero. The wife wanted me to decorate the front of the house this morning. What, is she nuts? Why didn't she tell me to do that a month ago? She says she did, but I think she's lying.
December 24:
Six inches! Snow packed so hard by snowplough, I broke the shovel. Thought I was having a heart attack. If I ever catch the son-of-a-bitch who drives that snowplough, I'll drag him through the snow by his balls and beat him to death with my broken shovel. I know he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then he comes down the street at a 100 mph and throws snow all over everywhere I've just been! Tonight the wife wanted me to sing Christmas carols with her and open our presents, but I was too busy watching for the damn snowplough.
December 25:
Merry F****** Christmas. 20 more inches of the @&^%)*% slop tonight. Snowed in. The idea of shoveling makes my blood boil. God, I hate the snow! Then the snowplough driver came by asking for a donation and I hit him over the head with my shovel. The wife says I have a bad attitude. I think she's a fricking idiot. If I have to watch "It's a Wonderful Life" one more time, I'm going to stuff her into the microwave.
December 26:
Still snowed in. Why the hell did I ever move here? It was all HER idea. She's really getting on my nerves.
December 27:
Temperature dropped to -30, and the pipes froze. Plumber came after 14 hours of waiting for him; he only charged me $1,400 to replace all my pipes.
December 28:
Warmed up to above -25. Still snowed in. The BITCH is driving me crazy!!!!!
December 29:
10 more inches. Bob says I have to shovel the roof or it could cave in. That's the silliest thing I ever heard. How dumb does he think I am?
December 30:
Roof caved in. I beat up the snowplough driver. He is now suing me for a million dollars; not only for the beating I gave him but also for trying to shove the broken snow shovel up his ass. The wife went home to her mother. 9 more inches predicted.
December 31:
I set fire to what's left of the house. No more shoveling.
January 8:
Feel so good. I just love those little white pills they keep giving me. Why am I tied to the bed?

Roof caved in. I beat up the snowplough driver. He is now suing me for a million dollars; not only for the beating I gave him but also for trying to shove the broken snow shovel up his ass. The wife went home to her mother. 9 more inches predicted.
December 31:
I set fire to what's left of the house. No more shoveling.
January 8:
Feel so good. I just love those little white pills they keep giving me. Why am I tied to the bed?

Tackiest Car Dealers Anywhere
Ah yes - Kissimmee. A cowboy town on the way to Orlando (DisneyWorld) in Cenral Florida. And home of the Family Auto Mart. These brothers make the cheesiest local commercials and have an equally tacky website HERE. They have such a big following, they now even sell their own merchandise!Best Print Ads
Most print ads in the past few years have gone back to being visual with little copy at all. Witty, provocative, eye-catching. Anything to get your attention quickly and to get the point across in a fast-moving world. Great collection is HERE.

No Way We Could Handle Driving Like This
