Some Great Web Videos

Here are a couple of hilarious shorts. One of them is The Truth about Sushi and my personal favorite is The Matrix with Additional Sound Effects. You'll need to download Windows Media Player 10 to view them.

Horse Acapella

This is simply a well-programmed Flash site, especially for horse-lovers. Click on the horses in different order and then try turning them on and off individually to get different rhythms.

Oldie But Goodie: The Talking Dog

A guy is driving around and he sees a sign in front of a house: "Talking Dog for Sale." He rings the bell, and the owner tells him the dog is in the back yard. The guy goes into the back yard and sees a Labrador Retriever sitting there. "You talk?" he asks.

"Yep," the Lab replies.

"So, what's your story?"

The Lab looks up and says, "Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young, and I wanted to help the government; so I told the CIA about my gift, and in no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping. I was one of the CIA's most valuable spies for eight years running. But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I wanted to settle down. I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security work, mostly wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals. I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired."

The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog..

"Ten dollars," the guy says.

"This dog is amazing. Why on earth are you selling him so cheap?"

"Because he's a liar. He didn't do any of that crap."

Another Wild Picture e-Mail

I wonder what percentage of the picture e-mails people send and receive are funny, weird or porn? And what percentage are just jokes (bad or otherwise)? It would make a really interesting survey question. Just got this one today and even if it's not real (which may often be the case), it's a cool picture. I also had this other Yahoo! shot sent to me yesterday. Very bizarre!

Wireless Hotspots

I just posted a piece on my RobertinSeattle blog about my experiences with trying to get a wireless network up and running. I also wanted to post a link here to a really cool site where you can locate (and report) the latest free wireless hotspots across the States. Ain't technology cool?

When a Baby's Born in Japan...

A friend forwarded this terrific Japanese commercial -- it's about a 3Mb mpeg file and you can either download it or stream it to watch it. Some of the best commercials come from overseas (that's probably what they say about our commercials over there!)

Better than eBay?

Woot! has been around for a short while now and I love checking in when I'm near a computer at 11:00 at night my time in Seattle (they're on Central time). In case you've never checked them out yet, Woot! puts up one item every day on their site (complete with well-written descriptions) at a fantastic, irresistible prices that can only be offered by closeout specialists like them. The item stays up for the day and many often sell out within minutes after posting, taunting you with a Sold Out! headline until the next posting. Great concept. You'll love it. (And yes -- I've already checked it tonight before posting this!)

Classic Carson Copper Clappers

We'll all miss Johnny Carson. I remember first watching him as early as the 70's when I lived in Toronto; the man had class and style to go with his impeccable sense of timing and delivery. Irreplacable! Here's his classic Copper Clappers skit as could only have be done with the original Dragnet's Jack Webb. I think I can hear Ed MacMahon in the background laughing.

Why Paint Cats?

A friend of mine just circulated an e-mail with some of the pictures from a book and website titled, Why Paint Cats? How anyone came up with the idea is beyond me but some of the images are pretty cool. And some of the pissed-off reactions they've posted are also pretty cool. PETA -- eat your heart out!
