Want to Feel Small?

In the universal scheme of things, we're pretty damn small. You can get some idea of just how small by spending a little time checking out a new Nikon site called Universale HERE. And believe it or not, the entire piece is done in flash.

Why Men Never Get Published in Dear Abby

Dear Abby,

I’ve never written to you before, but I really need your advice on what could be a crucial decision. I’ve suspected for some time now that my wife has been cheating on me.

The usual signs… Phone rings but if I answer, the caller hangs up.

My wife has been going out with the girls a lot recently although when I ask their names she always says, “Just some friends from work, you don’t know them.”

I always stay awake to look out for her taxi coming home, but she always walks down the drive. Although I can hear a car driving off, as if she has gotten out of the car round the corner. Why? Maybe she wasn’t in a taxi?

I once picked her cell phone up just to see what time it was and she went berserk and screamed that I should never touch her phone again and why was I checking up on her.

Anyway, I have never approached the subject with my wife. I think deep down I just didn’t want to know the truth, but last night she went out again and I decided to really check on her.

I decided I was going to park my Harley Davidson motorcycle next to the garage and then hide behind it so I could get a good view of the whole street when she came home. It was at that moment, crouching behind my Harley, that I noticed that the valve covers on my engine seemed to be leaking a little oil.

Is this something I can fix myself or should I take it back to the dealer?

Who's the Environmentalist?

Look over the descriptions of the following two houses and see if you can tell which house belongs to an environmentalist:

HOUSE # 1:

A 20-room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms) heated by natural gas. Add on a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house all heated by gas. In ONE MONTH ALONE this mansion consumes more energy than the average American household in an ENTIRE YEAR. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2,400.00 per month. In natural gas alone (which last time we checked was a fossil fuel), this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. Oh -- and this house is not in a northern or Midwestern "snow belt," either -- it's in the South.

HOUSE # 2:

Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university, this house incorporates every "green" feature current home construction can provide. The house contains only 4,000 square feet (4 bedrooms) and is nestled on a high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually 67 degrees F.) heats the house in winter and cools it in summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas, and it consumes 25% of the electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Flowers and shrubs native to the area blend the property into the surrounding rural landscape.

HOUSE #1 (20 room energy guzzling mansion) is outside of Nashville,Tennessee. It is the abode of that renowned environmentalist (and filmmaker) Al Gore.

HOUSE #2 (model eco-friendly house) is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas, also known as "the Texas White House," it is the private residence of the President of the United States, George W. Bush.

Don't you just love hypocrisy?

Dress Up Mohammed Page

Well, if those Danish political cartoons didn't piss off the EuroMuslims enough last year, then the Dress Up Mohammed site might! Just go out and kill a whole bunch more people to convince everyone how peaceful you are.

Seattle Times' Annual Peeps Contest

Every year, the Seattle Times sponsors their tacky -- but fun -- Peeps Contest (article and call for entries HERE). Artist Mike Leavitt has submitted his Anna Nicole peep sculpture. I love it!

Greetings... from Hell.

I had heard of underground coal mine fires before but have never seen one up close or in video. Here's a post from some people who went through Centralia, Pennsylvania last year and took a lot of pictures. The entire town was completely evacuated and has been a ghost town since 1962. Spooky!

Original Drunk Squirrel Video

No animals were harmed in the making of this home video. Apparently, these people came home to find this squirrel that had gotten drunk from eating their fermented pumpkins...

Never Be First or Last in a Real Estate Deal

From ChongQing (formerly known as Chung King) comes this story of a diehard who decided to hold out and be the last man standing in a new real estate development. You never want to be the guy who is approached first when a new project is being assembled. But you sure as hell REALLY don't want to be the last guy out either. Especially when you're asking for an astronomical sum for your little piece of earth. As reported in the local paper Sou Fun.

Apple Commercial Mashup

Remember Apple's 1984 Commercial for the new Macintosh? Here's a political re-make on YouTube:

The Queen Does deNiro

IMHO Craig Ferguson is the funniest late show host (and probably the most consistently stoned). Here's a clip from one of last week's shows that was aired right after the Oscars.
